Contrary to what you may have heard, you don’t have to tell your whole ‘life-story’ in order to get seen, heard and paid.

While showing up is necessary, it’s not how much you say but the quality of what you say that’ll make all the difference.

You see talking too much can work against you as it can confuse your audience or, worse yet, bore them to death. So if you’re someone who struggles with knowing what to talk about, here a few questions to ask before you begin.

1: What information will resonate the most with your audience?

Writing or speaking without first understanding your audience won’t work in your favor. Take some time to understand your people, their struggles and craft your message to talk about how you are the solution they’ve been praying for.

2: What story can you share that’ll add value?

We all have stories, but it’s crucial to choose the one that adds the most value to whatever you’re talking about. It’s also imperative that you bridge the gap between your story and the solution you’re providing.

3: Is the information you’re sharing timely or relevant?

Talking about things that are trending or that are ‘in season’ will also work in your favor. Think about what’s happening in your industry or in the news as it relates your audience.

4: Is your ultimate goal to inform, transform, educate or motivate?

This point is not so much what you say but more about how it’s delivered. What is your ultimate goal?

5: What would you like to be known for?

When it’s all said and done, what would you like the audience to take away? How would you like them to view you? What is the single, most important thing that you’d like them to leave with?
